Louis Erard - Its history

The history of Louis Erard is one of typically Jura-style resilience, marked by a transition from mass production to highly creative niche watchmaking. 1929: The company is founded by Louis Erard and André Perret in La Chaux-de-Fonds. 1931: The first watches are released under the exclusive brand name “Louis Erard.” 1942–1980: The brand specializes in casing for other watchmakers and in the production of ultra-thin movements, before being severely impacted by the quartz crisis. 1992: The headquarters is relocated to Le Noirmont, in the Franches-Montagnes, following financial difficulties. 2003: The brand is acquired by a group of investors led by Alain Spinedi.
