Ebel 1911 - Its history
The Ebel 1911 collection (often referred to as Classic or part of the Sport Classic line) occupies a central place in the history of the Swiss brand. Launched in 1986, the collection was named “1911” to commemorate the year the brand was founded by Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy. It was directly inspired by the Sport Classic line that appeared in 1977. It incorporates the same iconic features: the hexagonal case and the five distinctive screws on the bezel. Under the leadership of Pierre-Alain Blum, Ebel prospered during the quartz crisis by focusing on elegant and precise models. The quartz versions offered increased finesse and reliability. Today, the Ebel 1911 quartz is sought after both as a “neo-vintage” piece from the 80s and 90s and for its modern versions that perpetuate the brand's heritage of timeless elegance.
