Omega Speedmaster - Its history
The Omega Speedmaster Date is a self-winding variant of the famous Speedmaster Professional (the “Moonwatch”), introduced later to offer additional practical features, such as a date display. The Speedmaster Date range was designed for everyday use and first appeared in the 1980s and 1990s. These models are equipped with automatic movements, often based on ETA movements (such as the Valjoux 7750 for the Date or the Omega caliber 1151/3606), thus distinguishing them from the manual winding of the Moonwatch.
